Close of an Era - Jupiter's Transits - Lunar Nodes Changing
As the world enters into the July-August cycle of 2009, the world seems a confused and total mess with people's minds and actions running in several directions at the same time. The world news reflects this confusion and angst over the present, and even more so when it comes to the future.
As the world economic crisis continues to develop, populations around the world are seething with frustration and anger at the chaotic environment that has disrupted the lives of tens of millions of individuals, families and businesses.
As unemployment rates climbing in double digits, and declining consumer spending combined with the continuing loss of manufacturing and ever declining residential and commercial real estate values - the year 2009 is turning out to look more like a continuation of the disastrous year of 2008.
Is there more of the same to come? Or will 2010 see movement towards a more positive global climate?
We see an number of important astrological shifts taking place this year that will close one era and open another in mid-2009.
- Lunar Nodes Changing Quality August 21. 2009
- Saturn Enters Libra Briefly & Squares Pluto (Oct. 2009 to April 7. 2010)
The most important of these is the coming re-setting of the New Moons cycle in July 2009. The previous New Moon cycle that began in September 2006 ends in mid-July 2009.
This fresh series of New Moons will extend into May/June 2012, and covers a period full of major astrological configurations that open up a new historic era for the Earth.
Most of the concerns continue to be the economic impact on society. The generational shift now occurring from the outgoing Baby Boomers who leave middle age and enter their senior citizen years to Generation X who enter their middle age years as the incoming establishment will be completed by the start of the year 2011.
The changes from one establishment to another is seen by the movement of the outer planets of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto - which are transpersonal planets that affect large populations worldwide.
The ingress of Pluto into tropical Capricorn in November 2008 signals this change, as Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus continue to head towards the seasonal cardinal points of Aries and Libra between 2009-2011.
The movements of the outer planets signal historic changes taking place globally. How people respond to these changes and adjust their lives will depend on each individual and groups; especially those making decisions that have already altered the lives of many millions of people around the world.
These themes represent the old versus the new, and change versus stagnation; represented by the ongoing Saturn/Uranus opposition. The themes reflect the aging of Baby Boomers, showing resistance to change, mainly via generational angst over aging, and younger generations who face having to resolve old issues that are not their own while simultaneously seeking to work for the future.
The current stagnation is a reflection of this generational "angst" which, if not resolved soon by the generation in question, will become resolved by the transits of the outer planets themselves. Change is coming, according to the movements of the outer celestial bodies.
Rising Death Rates
People the world over have been noticing a series of rising notable deaths over the recent months of 2009, and were further shocked on June 25, 2009 when the death of superstar Michael Jackson was announced. Jackson, who was pronounced dead of a heart attack at the age of 50 on that day.
This came on the heels of the death of 62-year-old American actress Farrah Fawcett from cancer the same day. Both deaths were preceded by the mysterious death of American actor David Carradine on June 3 in Bangkok, Thailand. There was also the death of ailing television star Ed McMahon on June 23.
On June 28, another 50-year old, American TV infomercial pitchman Billy Mays, was pronounced dead at his home in Florida on the morning of June 28. Although not clear how he died, Mays reported that he was struck on the head after a US Airways Flight he was a passenger on the previous night blew its front landing wheels on arrival at a Tampa airport.
What appears to be happening is the return of a coming higher rise in mortality rates associated with the transit of Jupiter. During the spring, summer and autumn months of 2009, Jupiter conducts a triple conjunction to the planet Neptune, and will also be conjoined by the planetoid Chiron, in the tropical Sign of Aquarius.
The exact dates of Jupiter's triple conjunction to Neptune in 2009 are:
- May 25
- July 13
- December 20, 2009

Though some of the notable deaths were of people above the ages of 70 - there are also a number of deaths of those in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, and many of these have increased as Jupiter's position in tropical Aquarius inches ever closer to it coming historic conjunction with Uranus in 2010 and early 2011.
These rising death rates often accompany the transits of Jupiter, and are also associated with the transiting Nodes of the Moon at this time, are along the Aquarius/Leo axis and reducing towards changing quality onto the Capricorn/Cancer axis in late August 2009.
During the month of June 2009, the Lunar Nodes are at their strongest along the 0-1 degrees along the Leo/Aquarius.
The Leo/Aquarius axis is ruled by the Sun, Saturn, and Uranus, and is often associated with congestive heart failure, and accidents. Many of the notable deaths have been reported as involving those who suffered heart attacks.
With the conjunction of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune, along with the coming end of the transit of the Lunar Nodes along the Leo/Aquarius axis, and with the coming conjunction of Jupiter to Uranus in 2010, we can expect to hear of increasing mortality rates for some time to come.
Jupiter & Uranus Conjoin
Historic Times Ahead
In 2010, Jupiter enters tropical Pisces on January 17/18 and will conjoin Uranus (in Pisces since 2003) exactly on these dates:
- June 6, 2010 - both planets meet first at 0-Aries
- September 22, 2010 - in tropical Pisces
- January 2nd, 2011 - in tropical Pisces
The conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in the tropical Signs of Pisces & Aries during 2010 and 2011 signifies an historic point has been reached for the Earth.
Jupiter, which conjoined Saturn in May 2000, will also reach the first of its several oppositions to Saturn during the period 2010-2012.
The conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus is historic in the annals of Mundane Astrology whenever these two planetary giants meet. Coming after the triple conjunction between Jupiter and Neptune in 2009, we see another forming between Jupiter and Uranus in 2010-11.
These kinds of triple conjunctions between the outer planets only occur about twice every 10 years; yet, with the positions of Uranus and Neptune, transiting Jupiter will form one in 2009 (with Neptune) and follow with another triple conjunction with Uranus the year after. This signals significant global changes on the horizon.
In the signs of Aries, we see Jupiter and Uranus meet in early and briefly in June 2010 before turning back into tropical Pisces in August 2010 (Uranus) and early September 2010 (Jupiter) before both emerge again, and enter Aries for good by January 2011 (Jupiter) and March 2011 (Uranus.)
The global influences will extend into all sectors of human endeavor: from the purely personal to the professional. The year 2010 and the conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus offers "previews" into the coming decade of the 2010s.
It is a time to take risks, and to explore unconventional ways of gaining opportunities towards personal and professional success. Lives will continue to change, with populations shifting towards new lives in new cities, and careers, and long-standing relationships coming to an end with new relationships beginning.
All of the astrological configurations point to fresh starts for many people, and for some, endings that open into new beginnings for those who are courageous to forge ahead into the new era.
Unconventional actions mixed with vision, common sense and tolerance are among some of the best ways to utilize a Jupiter/Uranus conjunction. Those who are able to maneuver and adjust around the collapsing sectors of structures that have outlived their usefulness will be better able to not only survive - but to thrive - in the coming decade of the 2010s.
The opposition of Jupiter/Uranus to Saturn in 2010-2011 reflects that new, emerging worldviews will clash against outdated and stagnant worldviews of the late 20th century.
People who refused to adapt by choosing to remain frozen in their ways and outlooks, and who by choice, are threatened by change, will find later that they have seriously neglected essential areas of their lives that they should have paid closer attention before the world transits have set in for good.
It will not be easy to work with people who are resistant to change. These are people who are afraid of the future, and thus prefer to stick solely with what they believe will work based on the outdated practices that has proven not only faulty - but entirely useless in light of the crumbling of old structures.
Much of this fear is based on many in western society who see retirement as a negative thing, and who have not prepared themselves for the facts of life of aging. Many people are unaware that world transits clearly show that the materialistic structures they've depended on all of their lives is now crumbling due to widespread mismanagement, corruption, and the lack of vision and foresight.
- Saturn's transit towards Libra, and its square to Pluto in Capricorn shows old structures being totally cleared out to prepare for newer structures.
- The Saturn/Uranus opposition reflects the battles between conventional and unconventional forces and worldviews. The "old" versus the "new."
- The Jupiter/Saturn opposition further enhances the world changes from the old, failing ways towards the new.
All generations age, and the transits of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto indicate that the generation once associated with "youth" - the baby boomer generation - must now enter their retirement years.
This once youthful generation of the post-WWII years have now become grandparents and senior citizens, and many clearly are not ready to face these facts. However, the global transits will continue to remind this generation that the torch has been passed and that they must prepare for decade ahead.
Those among the millions of aging Baby Boomers who are not afraid of aging and who have prepared themselves for retirement without using the word in a negative connotation will do much better than those who are not prepared.
The transits of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto are very much active in passing the torch from one generation to another. Each planet will inhabit cardinal signs - seasonal points - which in mundane astrology clearly reveal that one age is closing and that another new age is opening.
Under the transits of these outer planets - there can be no more procrastination. The effects of time must be faced in accordance with the laws of the cosmos, and the outer planets of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto and their positions relative to one another and the Earth clearly show that the time for change has arrived.
Those people who remain stuck in conventional ways of thinking and refuse to compromise with creative people - especially when it comes to money and materialism - will find it very very difficult during the entire decade of the 2010s to rebound after losing multiple previous opportunities due to their own refusal to adapt to world transits.
The world is evolving, and significant changes are becoming more inevitable. How these local, regional, international and global changes play out in the 2010s and 2020s will greatly depend on the ability of populations to progress themselves individually, and humanity, as a whole, towards a healthier worldview that is not solely based on the cynical acquisition of personal material wealth and the perceived power that comes with it. For none of these things can halt the passage of a single second. Time is not money, and never was. Money can always be recovered, but the loss of time cannot.
By 2010, most of the world will clearly understand that times are truly changing, and this means that every single person of adult age must adapt to these changes. Jupiter's transit towards Uranus, and both, towards the first point of tropical Aries signals a new era opening by 2011.
The year 2010 is a major transitional year that points us towards a new decade and heralds the true start of the 21st century. The world transits of 2010 closes the door forcefully on the 20th century. Those who are prepared to courageously face this new era with creativity, positive energy and visionary drive will be much better suited in surviving the challenges of the 2010s and 2020s.
