The Cardinal Crisis
A woman covered in blood staggers in shock in the aftermath of a massive blast from a car-bomb explosion that rocked government and commercial buildings in the capital city of Oslo, Norway on July 22, 2011. The Scandinavian nation was the site of terror, tragedy and tears as the Oslo bombing was immediately followed by a shooting rampage that killed dozens of young people gathered on a nearby island - all of it done - authorities say - by one man.

Mundane Prophecy:

“And it happened, that when I had heard it, I stood up upon my feet and hearkened, and behold, there was a voice that spoke and the sound of it was like the sound of many waters.

And it said, 'Behold, the days come, that I will begin to draw nigh, and to visit them that dwell upon the earth.

And will begin to make inquisition of them, what they be that have hurt unjustly with their unrighteousness, when the affliction of Zion shall be fulfilled.

And when the world, that shall begin to vanish away, shall be finished, then will I show these tokens:

The Books shall be opened before the Firmament and they shall see, all together.

And the children of a year-old shall speak with their voices, the women with child shall bring forth untimely children of three or four months old and they shall live and be raised up.

And suddenly shall the sown places appear unsown; the full storehouses shall suddenly be found empty. And that Trumpet shall give a sound, which when every man hears, they shall be suddenly afraid.

At that time shall friends fight one against another like enemies, and the earth shall stand in fear with those that dwell therein, the springs of the fountains shall stand still, and in three hours they shall not run.

Whosoever remains from all these that I have told thee, shall escape, and see My salvation, and the end of your world.

And the men that are received shall see it, who have not tasted death from their birth: and the heart of the inhabitants shall be changed, and turned into another meaning.

For evil shall be put out, and deceit shall be quenched.

As for Faith, it shall flourish, corruption shall be overcome and the Truth, which has been so long without fruit - shall be declared.

For Esau is the end of the world, and Jacob is the beginning of that which follows, and the hand of Man is between the heel of Esau and the hand of Jacob.' "

- The Apocrypha: II Esdras, Chapter 6

What is the Cardinal Crisis?

For well over a year now, I have been highlighting and forecasting global events under the headline of the Cardinal Crisis

The main planets involved are the outer planets that transit by way of one of the four cardinal signs of the zodiac – Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

The planets involved are those of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto from the signs of Aries, Libra and Capricorn.

By the year 2014, the tropical sign Cancer will see Jupiter transiting for a year while Libra will have Mars in transit in that year. This will form what is known to astrologers as a Grand Cardinal Cross involving Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn.

We are cascading towards a powerful series of global emergencies I call the 'Cardinal Crisis.'

That is three years from now, but in August 2011, transiting Mars plays its role in tropical Cancer. Mars is also ‘out of bounds’ by declination until August 22, signifying a heightened level of violence around the world. More on that below and the implications of the inclinations of Mars.

Cardinal signs initiate, but not always for the good, as we have observed in world events since 2008. However, the cardinal crisis speaks of major transitions – on a global level – in order to end a generational age to begin a new generational era.

A generational war is at hand. The hegemony by the oligarchy and baby boomer establishment over everyone else has sealed the fate of both outworn generations.

We see this happening in the countries of North Africa as younger generations fight against the angst, corruption, hegemony and violence of the oligarchy and aged establishment. We also note the record disapproval ratings of the baby boomer Congress in the United States.

“The strongest reason for the People to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions that I wish it to be always kept alive.

It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed - until they try to take it.”

- Thomas Jefferson

"And the day will come, when the mystical generation of Jesus Christ, by the Supreme Being, as His Father, in the womb of a Virgin, will be classed with the fable of the Generation of Minerva, in the brain of Jupiter. When the people fear their government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the People - there is Liberty."

- Thomas Jefferson, 1743-1826

Soon, it will be time for the incoming new establishment - Generation X - to set matters straight. And that is exactly what is going to happen, according to world transits.

If you are a member of Generation X - born in the 1960s and 1970s - then ready yourselves for the driver's seat and responsible leadership. The news is blue and there's three (3X) times the amount of clean-up work to do.

Prepare to pick up your feet.

Enter: Generation X

In my astrological analysis of the decade of the Twenty-Tens, it has been my forecast that we are living in historic times with significant global angst and malaise - brought on by the outworn methodologies, rampant corruption, horrid mismanagement and fear-based ideologies of two generations in steep decline - with a new generation on the rise.

In this updated August 1, 2011 edition of Global Astrology, we take a closer look at the economic, geopolitical and social events to date around planet Earth.

While most of the outlooks are negative - considering the oligarchy and boomer establishment’s outright failures - I would remind those seeking fresh paths that can lead out of the global morass to also remember that positive opportunities for healthy growth and expansion do exist - that is - for those who are not cowards.

As human beings we do not turn our eyes away from the truths of the world we inhabit. For to do so is to be part of the problem - not the solution.

RECENT WORLD EVENTS

Mars 'Out Of Bounds' -> Looting, fires, rioting and violence spread throughout England:

Polish immigrant Monika Konczyk, 32, leaps from her smoke-filled apartment in England on Monday night, August 8, 2011 in a moment which has become a defining image of the widespread riots in the United Kingdom. The terrified woman, who arrived in Britain in March, survived by leaping down into the outstretched arms of a Romanian man named Adrian to escape the blazing fire in Croydon that destroyed the 144-year-old Reeves furniture store.

Rioters set buildings and cars ablaze while authorities struggled to contain the spiraling disorder of rioting in the United Kingdom - which will host the Summer 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The early days of August 2011 witnessed what is being called "the worst unrest in decades."

The Guardian reported that deaths had occurred in Britain as "rioters set buildings, cars, buses, trucks and garbage dumps on fire after the August 4 police shooting of Mark Duggan.

Multiple shops were burglarized and looted while police officers were pelted with bottles and fireworks as increasing numbers of people rampaged through neighborhoods across England - forcing the early return of vacationing British Prime Minister David Cameron back to London.

Critics say government austerity policies of chopping public spending and raising taxes to cut budget deficits have especially aggravated the plight of young generations in the United Kingdom.

The awarding of huge bonuses to bankers has become emblematic of a baby boomer culture of flashy consumption for their elite.

Alleged corruption within London's police force and a 2009 scandal over parliamentarians' expenses have also fueled notions that greed is a motivating factor across the spectrum of British society.

Darcus Howe, a West Indian writer and broadcaster takes on the BBC in this interview about the August 2011 riots.

"Everyone's heard about the police taking bribes, the members of parliament stealing thousands with their expenses. They set the example. It's time to loot," a youth in the riot-torn London district of Hackney told Reuters.

John McDonnell, a legislator for the opposition Labor Party, wrote in the Guardian newspaper: "We are reaping what has been sown over the last three decades of creating a grotesquely unequal society with an ethos of grab as much as you can - by any means.

"A society of looters created with MPs and their expenses, bankers and their bonuses, tax-evading corporations, hacking journalists, bribe-taking police officers, and now a group of alienated kids are seizing their chance."

In London court sessions, which ran through the tense August nights processing suspects, one could see people from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds, ages and employment circumstances who appeared before bleary-eyed magistrates.

They included a 31-year-old elementary schoolteacher from Stockwell, in south London, who pleaded guilty to burglary in Croydon, several miles from his home. Police said they arrested more than 1,000+ people, one as young as 11-years-old, in the UK since the August riots began."

Syria's Govt. Slaughters Men, Women & Children
On Eve Of Holy Month Of Ramadan

[*Editor's Note: The following story contains disturbing and graphic images of the human slaughter that has been taking place since Spring 2011 in the country of Syria. Discretion is strongly advised]

The Guardian

August 1, 2011 -- Syria's uprising faced one of its defining moments when President Bashar al-Assad followed in his father's footsteps and sent in tanks to crush protests in the central city of Hama - killing hundreds of people and triggering a fresh new wave of international outrage.

The video below shows a boy being murdered by the agents of the Syrian government.

The National Organisation for Human Rights said a running count of 136 people had recently been killed in Hama and in three other Syrian towns.
Activists described it as a "massacre" after armoured units ended a month-long siege and smashed through makeshift barricades around the city just after dawn on the eve of the holy Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

International media are still largely banned from Syria, but citizen journalists ensured that the scale and brutality of the slaughter was visible to the world. They continue their heartfelt appeals to the international community for intervention and help.
Video clips posed on YouTube shows unarmed civilians taking cover from shelling and heavy machine-gun fire as hospitals struggled to cope with 200+ casualties by mid-morning August 1, 2011.

Bodies lay scattered on the streets, residents report
"They started shooting with heavy machine guns at civilians, at the young men protecting the barricades," Omar Habal, a local activist, told the Guardian.
Syria, with a population of 23 million, is experiencing the bloodiest days yet of the 'Arab Spring,' that began with revolutions in North African nations of Tunisia and Egypt.

President al-Assad, a medical doctor, who was once hailed as a modernising reformist, has ruled since the year 2000 but is now vilified by his own people and the international community.
The Syrian government said that "armed gangs" with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades were vandalizing public and private property in Hama, attacking police stations, erecting barricades and burning tyres.

Hama, known as a conservative stronghold of the country's Sunni Muslim majority, has a special resonance in Syria as the scene of a notorious massacre in 1982 when the Ba'ath regime crushed an Islamist uprising that challenged the rule of the president's father, Hafez al-Assad. At least 10,000 people were killed then.

The July 31, 2011 crackdown involved Syrian troops and security agents who were accompanied by busloads of irregular militiamen known as 'Shabiha' (Ghosts) who belong to the same Alawite minority as the Assad family.

The official Sana News Agency said two security force members were killed in Hama and three in Deir Ezzor, on the border with Iraq, where government armoured units continued assaults.
Violence was also reported from parts of Damascus and the southern city of Deraa, where activists said three people participating in a rally to support Hama were shot dead by Syrian security forces.

Hama residents told Reuters that Syrian army snipers had climbed onto the roofs of the state-owned electricity company and the main prison, while tank shells were falling at the rate of four a minute in and around the north of the city.

They had been shooting into houses with lights on. A little girl was reported shot in the head by one of the snipers in her own home.
Electricity and water supplies to the main neighbourhoods had been cut off, a tactic used regularly by the Syrian military when storming towns to crush protests.

Habal described people walking towards tanks armed only with wooden bats, steel bars or stones.

"It's a massacre. They want to break Hama before the month of Ramadan," an eyewitness who identified himself as Ahmed, told the Associated Press by telephone.

Al-Arabiya TV reported that some soldiers had refused to fire on protesters and had joined them. But unlike Libya, Syria has not yet experienced any high-level defections from the military.
Film clips showed corpses in mortuaries, clouds of smoke, the sound of explosions and gunfire, and demonstrators chanting "Allahu Akbar!" (God is Great).

The United Kingdom condemned the "appalling" onslaught, long anticipated by the Syrian opposition.

"Such action against civilians who have been protesting peacefully in large numbers in the city for a number of weeks has no justification," said William Hague, the foreign secretary.

Speaking to the BBC from Damascus, a spokesman for the U.S. embassy described what they called "full-on warfare by the Syrian government on its own people … That's the armed gang that is striking terror into the hearts of the people."
The U.S. ambassador was told by the Syrian government that he cannot leave the city after enraging the government with a high-profile visit to Hama last month.

U.S. President Barack Obama said he was "appalled" by the brutality of the Syrian government and described reports from Hama as "horrifying!"

Precise casualty figures were unclear but they rose throughout the day. The local co-ordination committee, which organises and monitors anti-government protests, said it had the names of 49 civilians who had died in the onslaught on Hama. By nightfall the numbers were nudging 100 for Hama alone.

The city of Hama has been a focus of anti-regime protests since early June 2011, when security forces shot dead at least 70 people. Since then it has fallen out of government control, with protesters holding the streets and government forces conducting overnight raids from outside the city.

But apart from ritual condemnation, the latest bloodletting looks unlikely to trigger any significant international response, given the sharp divisions among the veto-wielding five permanent members of the UN security council.

Germany, which held the rotating presidency of the council until midnight on Sunday, July 31, 2011 requested that the body meet on Monday, August 1st to discuss the violence.

Limited sanctions on key officials imposed by the U.S. and European Union have been shrugged off by the Syrian regime.

"It's incredible to consider that since March the regime has slaughtered over 1,500 people, arrested thousands, tortured people to death, and yet the United Nations Security Council has yet to issue a resolution?" said Chris Doyle of the Council for Arab-British Understanding.
"Russia, China and other countries such as Brazil should have to explain their appalling positions," he said.

An activist group, Avaaz, said last week that Syrian forces had killed 1,634 people in the course of their crackdown during four-and-a-half months of protest - while at least 2,918 people had simply 'disappeared.'
A further 26,000 people had been arrested, many of them beaten and tortured, and 12,617 people remain in detention, it said.
~
The horrors of what has been, and continues to occur in Syria is reflective of the extreme reactionary fears of the ingrained establishment of Dr. Bashar al-Assad's regime, which he inherited from his late father.

World transits over Syria as Mars transits sidereal Gemini and the Dragon's Tail with Mars soon to enter tropical Cancer on August 3rd, to take part in the cardinal crosses with Uranus and Pluto in play early in the month (and Saturn later) means many conflicts will surely come close to becoming outright conflagrations.

This will force the international community to make critical decisions about positive interventions in times of dire human need.

Let’s take a look at the world transits of August.

Mercury's Retrograde
Venus Turns Evening Star
The Mundane Synodic Returns of Mercury, Mars & Jupiter

Forecast by
Theodore White, mundane Astrolog.S

The transits of the month of August 2011 are those that depict a crossroads for populations worldwide, according to the revolutions of the planets relative to the Earth:

July 23-August 22 – Mars out of bounds by declination
July 30 – New Moon at 7-Leo
August 3-26 – Mercury retrograde
August 3 – Mars enters tropical Cancer
August 5- Neptune re-enters tropical Aquarius
August 16 – Venus turns to ‘evening star’ phase until June 2012
August 16 – Mercury turns to morning star phase
August 24-25 Saturn sesquiquadrate Neptune
August 26-September 9 – Mercury’s shadow cycle
August 30 – Jupiter stations retrograde until Dec. 25, 2011

August really began with the New Moon of July 30, the second new moon of that month. August is a month of significance with planetary shifts to open up the second half of the year 2011.

This New Moon in tropical Leo continues the summer season in the northern hemisphere, leading to the last third of the summer season to the New Virgo Moon of August 29.

By mid-month, between August 16 and August 17, both Mercury and Venus will be combust to the Sun with Mercury reaching its morning star phase while Venus, in tropical Leo, turns from morning to evening star cycle.

Venus-Mercury Combust To The Sun - August 16, 2011 - Washington D.C.

Since October 2010, Venus had been in a 'morning star' cycle – looking ahead. But globally, that phase encountered stubborn resistance to change - which had to be forced, as was the case in Egypt.

Worldwide, rather than true changes taking place to forge new paths forward and away from the dying oligarchy and outgoing boomer establishment; what has happened is that illusion, delay and obfuscation predominated.

Still, I continue to remind those who would block progress in the world that their time is coming to an end, as world transits confirm.

Those previous ten months – from October 2010 to August 2011 – had seen an unwillingness by the oligarchy and their spawns to take their 'financial haircuts’ and admit major failures across the board.

Rather, both oligarchy and establishment chose to shut its eyes and continue along the path of self-indulgence at the expense of everyone else. That decision, I continue to remind - will have major consequences for the near and long-term future.

New Moon - Wall Street - Manhattan, N.Y.
click on chart to enlarge

The New Moon horoscope for Wall Street for August shows that a decline is in order early in the month.

A slowing Mercury on the mid-heaven, in the Ninth Mundane House, shows the international economic stresses with concerns on the health of the global economy - particularly the situation in Europe - shows significant market losses to come as Mercury stations retrograde by August 3.

Mercury's trine to Pluto, located in the Second House of Finances points to Pluto's square to Uranus - signifying disruptions to come for the Dow Jones Industrials and global stock markets - most likely between August 3-5, 2011 with deep losses across the board.

Mercury's opposition to Neptune is a sign of the illusory belief that the U.S. debt ceiling agreement would bolster international markets when the attention on the global economy should have rather been observed.

Mercury's retrograde begins August 3 at 1-degree Virgo and with Neptune at 0-tropical Pisces, the illusion will not hold - despite attempts to the contrary. The inclinations of a Mercury-Neptune opposition shows people can become oblivious to the overall climate to the point of being unable to respond to fast-moving events.

The inclinations of the opposition, especially with Mercury slowing to retrograde, tends to a lack of awareness with use of deceptive tactics to avoid facing the realities of long unresolved matters, for example, the very strange goings-on with ratings agencies Moody's and Standard & Poor's in various countries such as Italy.

The evasiveness more than often backfires, interfering with work efficiencies and adding to confusion in communications.

Neptune's involvement in opposition to a declining Mercury is an unfavorable time to formulate agreements because of the potentials of hidden flaws and mistakes in counting the numbers - especially during August - and again, during the first ten (10) days of September, when Mercury once again opposes Neptune.

There are three (3) Mercury-Neptune oppositions. The first two (2) oppositions take place in early August, with Neptune at 0-degrees tropical Pisces, when on August 5 - Neptune, retrograde since June 3, 2011 - re-enters tropical Aquarius.

On Monday, Aug. 8, a retrograde Mercury re-enters tropical Leo and performs what is in essence, a second opposition to Neptune - this time on the fixed Leo/Aquarius axis - at 29-degrees. This is an 'emergency' degree in astrology.

Mercury will continue to decline until stationing direct in motion Aug. 26, and by September 8-9, 2011 will oppose Neptune for the third time on the anaretic 29th degree of Leo/Aquarius.

The meaning of all this are lots of 'emergency discussions' among presidents, prime ministers, central bankers, finance ministers and policymakers while markets shed billions upon billions in value.

During the interim, transiting Mars will be out of bounds by declination. Both Mercury and Mars act as planetary wild cards in August.

The global effects are emergency attempts to fix that which has not been resolved, in this case, the serious problems of financial severity of nations that has at its heart the underlying insolvency of international banks with policymakers - who are seemingly hapless to come up with a series of proper repairs that will stick.

It is my astrological assessment that it is the long-term synodic cycle of Mercury which is at play here and that Neptune's role, by way of politicians, bankers and television media reporting on the crisis - all this points to a generational establishment that has time and again 'kicked the can down the road' - but simply has no solution to the very problems they helped to create and then exacerbate.

More on the mundane synodic cycles of Mercury and Mars further below.

The July 30th New Moon over Wall Street was in a 150-degree quincux aspect to Pluto showing emergency meetings, calls and frustrations by global central bankers and the European Central Bank (ECB) to handle balancing the jilted and dysfunctional financial books of the European Union as worsening events on the bond yields of Italy, Portugal and Spain expand their negative spreads.

In England there are growing fears the banking crisis could shatter an already fragile consumer and business confidence and increase the risk that the weak economy will plunge into a 'double-dip' recession.

David Blanchflower, former member of the Bank of England's monetary policy committee, said he believes there may have to be a fresh round of "emergency measures" - including quantitative easing -  perhaps as soon as the second week in August.

Jupiter's location in the Sixth Mundane House is square to the New Moon strengthens the likelihood of deep market losses in August despite Jupiter's earth trine to Pluto in Capricorn.

Moreover, transiting Mercury's station to retrograde by August 3rd adds to the significance of losses. The slowdown on the Dow Jones since late July 2011 shows Mercury's increasing influence. This will continue into August. It will be a tough first week of August on Wall Street and throughout international stock markets and indices.

Jupiter is also slowing down in tropical Taurus to its stationary retrograde on August 30, 2011. Jupiter will go back over the first 10-degrees of Taurus from the end of August to December 25, 2011, when Jupiter will station direct at 0-Taurus.

By late October 2011, Jupiter will once again perform earth trine aspects to Pluto in Capricorn, but the retrograde of Jupiter shows the need to go back over the accounting books as nations struggle with sovereign debts along with the ongoing - and unresolved - global banking crisis.

Global Market Correction?
August 4-5, 2011 - New York
click on horoscope to enlarge

The mundane chart above is cast for Friday, August 5, 2011, location: New York.

What is depicted above is a Venus-Jupiter Square, signifying extreme market tensions, most likely taking place as well the day before on Thursday, August 4, as Venus in tropical Leo moves to an exact fixed square to Jupiter in Taurus.

I have been warning for years that my interpretation of world transits clearly revealed an inherent corruption and unstable foundation based on faulty economic forecasts, greed and rampant mismanagement in financial markets, banks and investment houses.

The Venus-Jupiter square is also significant as it shows a dire mix of enormous levels of financial extravagance combined with procrastination and ignorance dealing straight up with outstanding international economic matters.

Europe is strongly highlighted as usual, but so is the global economy as a whole. This has been coming for a long time and there's more to come - you can bet on it.

Venus is in a sort of 'last quarter cycle' in preparation for its 'evening star' cycle to begin August 16-17. This shift, along with the overall world transits, indicates a sea-change with the sentiments of investors turning negative on the health of the global economy.

Meanwhile, transiting Mars, now in Cancer, is preparing for a powerful series of cardinal aspects to Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn during the second week of August and then Mars' square to Saturn in late August.

In tropical Cancer, Mars is debilitated, meaning it does not operate favorably here. Mars will transit tropical Cancer from August 3 to September 19, 2011, so expect emotions to be rather raw, especially in the month of August.

Under the inclinations of Mars, tempers are sure to heat up, mainly due to the continued economic and business frustrations that have led to tens of millions of people out of work.

The market losses are bound to anger many people calling for the heads of those who started the mess in the first place. There is a need to be calm and cool-headed in light of the hostile atmospheric inclinations.

Stock markets and indices will continue to be tense and fragile going into August 8-12 as policymakers and international bankers attempt to calm things down within a powerful astrological climate.

As Venus shifts from morning star to 'evening star' cycle by Aug. 16-17, 2011, the fruits of what has been accomplished - or not yet completed - will be experienced around the globe over the next 10 months.

Hold onto your hats - because the ride is about to get that much more difficult.

Venus Begins Evening Star Cycle
 August 17, 2011 - Manhattan, New York
click on chart to enlarge

The 'evening star' phase of Venus from August 16-17, 2011 to the Venus Transit of June 5, 2012 will predominate worldwide and is useful for those who seek to make positive plans for next year.

Venus will be observed worldwide as a bright star setting after the Sun over the next ten (10) months.

For others, the next ten months, without any lack of progress, may give way to ever more frustrations, disappointments and stresses if significant adjustments are not made.

How To Use August 2011

A major holiday month among northern hemisphere populations, the month of August should be used to rest and relax; however since the oligarchy and boomer establishment has all but screwed up the economy and society the summer of 2010 and 2011 have been anything but ‘relaxing.’

The climate conditions of August will continue to be hot and steamy for mid-and-southern latitudes in the northern hemisphere, so it is best to pace oneself - to be calm, cool and collected while at the same time planning on your aspirations, goals and objectives for the years ahead.

August 2011 sees a shifting of planetary configurations which will take us into the second half of the year.

The best way to use the transits of August is to think ahead over the medium to long-range and to make plans which fit world transits - especially for the years 2012-2015 - a span of three years that may feel more like six years due to the orbital motions of the planets.

That three-year period (2012-2015) also includes the historic Uranus-Pluto squares, comprised of seven (7) exact world squares.

The Uranus-Pluto world squares have been highlighted before on Global Astrology. The outer planetary synod depicts a time of popular hue-and-cries, rebellions, revolts and revolutionary sentiments worldwide as reaction against the outworn philosophies of a dying oligarchy and the baby boomer establishment.

There is no getting around this. We cannot stick our heads in the sand and pretend all is fine and dandy.

Millions of people, worldwide, are very upset with the boomer establishment and the outmoded ideologies which have caused whole communities to be uprooted, families scattered, businesses shut down, public services cut and the economy stagnant to the point of leaving tens of millions of people out of work.

People are not happy campers and are showing to it too.

We see the effects of planetary inclinations in the Middle East, where conflicts and violent battles rage. Even during the start of the month of Ramadan, we witness open killings in Syria by security forces that continue to murder innocents in their own homes and out on the streets.

Egypt's troubles are far from resolved and the pitched battles taking place in Libya has extended months without resolution, as I forecasted months ago.

A July 29, 2011 quote from our friends at Asymmetrical Threats Contingency Alliance in the United Kingdom:

"In the end, America and Europe might pass or fail in the latest challenges because of their leadership or the lack of it. The leaders seem to be ill-equipped or myopic for the tasks at hand.

This is the real tragedy:

We live in dangerous times that could have easily been avoided simply by the oligarchy and baby boomer establishment taking their cue to get off the world stage and to step aside - something they continue to refuse to do - despite all the evidence to the contrary of their complete failures in managing and policymaking of nations around the world.

When you face and confront bullies, the best medicine is to give the bully the only thing a bully truly understands and rightly fears.

So, in light of these truths, what is my mundane prediction for what’s coming down the road?

Mercury’s retrograde in August from 1-degree Virgo to 18-degrees Leo will extend from August 3 to August 26, 2011, with Mercury’s ‘shadow degree’ period stretching to September 9, 2011 when the swift planet will re-enter tropical Virgo and pass the degree of  its August 3 retrograde.

Mercury's station to retrograde in the Sign it rules, Virgo, is significant in that the retrograde calls on people to revise, review and redo on matters that have been on the table since April-May 2011. Mercury's retrogrades are always useful for those who know how to apply retrograde motions.

Retrogrades behave in a way I call ‘shifting of the gears,’ so to speak. It is when planets prepare to change phases. One way planets do this is by retrograde motion relative to the Earth.

By August 16, 2011, Mercury will meet Venus in conjunction at 23-Leo, both combust to the Sun, and while Venus will turn to evening star, Mercury will move ahead of the Sun the same day, in effect, to morning star phase. These are planetary gears shifting.

August is therefore a month to revise, review and redo. Recharging one’s batteries for the second half of the year is best; however in addition, August is also an excellent month to think and plan for the longer-term.

Economically, things will go from bad to worse I'm afraid to report. This is what the inclinations of the planets show. There will be more layoffs announced that will take place in late July and August 2011, so that by mid-September’s equinox, more people will be without jobs - including tens of thousands in the global financial sector.

Expect the unemployment rate to rise through summer 2011 and continue to rise during the autumn months in the northern hemisphere. We can already see this taking place with the following announcements:

Overall - we are in a deleveraging economic climate in the wake of the banking/Wall Street corruption of the period 1999-2007. This climate is also leading to rising inflation in some nations, devaluing of currency in other nations, historic rates of unemployment and a contracted business cycle.

Many workers who did not experience lay-offs in the 2007-2010 period are about to lose their jobs – these will be state and city jobs filled by baby boomers.

Transiting Mars in Gemini has sped up announcements of mass layoffs across many sectors. As Mars transits tropical Cancer in August-September 2011 we see yet another significator of the effects of the lay-offs, as tens of thousands more people are added to unemployment rolls.

This is bound, of course, to push up the unemployment rate into 2012 when Jupiter conjoins the South Lunar Node in Gemini.

While a third of the firings are voluntary resignations by baby boomers receiving ‘buyouts’ – the great majority of those laid off continue to be Generation X in their prime working years, or Generation Y, those just starting their careers. This is a further sign that the waning boomer establishment has reached the end of their ‘service’ to society and the world economy.

The transit of Mars through the tropical signs of Cancer, Leo and then Virgo depict the era from August 2011 to early July 2012. It is a time of misgivings, difficulty to adapt to retirement along with change and the frustrations of being confronted with barriers while trying to achieve one’s aspirations, both professionally and personally.

However, over the medium-term, going into 2012, it is essential to think outside of the box as well as to use the lessons of the past to forge new ways forward into the future.

Make no mistake about it – times are changing, but it will not be baby boomers who will lead the world into the next decades. The time of the boomer establishment has reached its nadir.

How the generation of boomers will want to be remembered will not be in their hands, since history is not written by the same generation but the one behind it. The economy, as outlined in this edition of Global Astrology, gives plenty of proof to the failures of the boomer establishment to society.

I have been warning baby boomers for years to prepare for retirement and it has not been an easy thing to do, because many baby boomers have been and remain in denial about aging and the facts of life.

The angst of the boomer generation to aging is self-inflicted by the illusion of being young forever. Meanwhile, those who are young are much less inclined to listen to elderly boomers because of that generation’s failure to society by means of its own warped ideology.

For years, I have been warning anyone who would listen about the rampant fraud in the financial sector. This was during the 'boom' years of the last decade when I was attacked as a 'doom and gloom' astrologer for reporting what I saw by means of mundane astrology.

What I see is never my opinion, nor my politics, or ideology. I have none. Mundane astrology is above all of that. Mundane astrologers see things remote from popular culture and political correctness. We look at what is happening in the real world and how events by way of world transits influence the future.

What I saw was rampant fraud being committed at the highest levels of finance and government with dire consequences for the world-at-large. This was not a popular view several years ago, but nonetheless it is what I saw and it is exactly what I forecasted.

An investment wealth manager says this about it all:

“I think it’s important to emphasize one of the dangers of wealth concentration: irresponsibility about the wider economic consequences of their actions by those at the top.

Wall Street created the investment products that produced gross economic imbalances and the 2008 credit crisis. It wasn’t the hard-working 99.5%.

Average people could only destroy themselves financially - not the economic system. There’s plenty of blame to go around, but the collapse was primarily due to the failure of complex mortgage derivatives, CDS credit swaps, cheap Fed money, lax regulation, compromised ratings agencies, government involvement in the mortgage market, the end of the Glass-Steagall Act in 1999, and insufficient bank capital.

Only Wall Street could put the economy at risk and it had an excellent reason to do so: profit. It made huge profits in the build-up to the credit crisis and huge profits when it sold itself as “too big to fail” and received massive government and Federal Reserve bailouts.

Most of the serious economic damage the U.S. is struggling with today was done by the top 0.1% and they benefited greatly from it.”

How individual boomers decide to retire is up to them and no one else. In their younger years, baby boomers did not like to hear the word “no” and rebelled against it. The parents, the oligarchy were just as bad and encouraged that which they should have never allowed in their own lives, much that of their own children

My advice to baby boomers is to get used to that word - 'no' - quickly, for it will be said many times in the years just ahead.

A new era is here; though in the very early years – it will be the Generation X establishment tasked with fixing the great mess, repairing the cultural damage while building new, fresh creative roads into the future.

The Synodic Returns Of Mercury, Mars & Jupiter:
The 1930s Revisited?

Most of the astrological talk in August will be about Mercury’s retrograde starting Aug. 3, 2011 at 1-degree Virgo to Mercury's direct motion at 18-Leo by August 26.

From a mundane astrologer's view, what is significant about Mercury’s retrograde is its synodic cycle matching that of the summer of the year 1932. The mundane term ‘synodic’ is a reference to astronomical returns.

A mundane synodic cycle measures the relationship between moving planetary bodies relative to the Earth from one span of time to another; while noting their correlating influences.

Both planets, Mercury and Mars, are in the same synodic cycle in 2011 - this reflects the year 1932. Their synodic cycles for 2012 will be that of the year 1933.

These synodic returns are cyclical patterns that repeat over decades in the same zodiacal signs - and often the same degrees. A synodic return can involve two planets – called a double-planet synodic cycle.

The synodic double-planet cycle of Mercury and Mars in 2011 signifies the summer of 1932. We are bound to see and experience correlating events from the early 1930s as the synodic returns of both Mercury & Mars reflect.

The world continues to also experience the cardinal T-square of Saturn, Uranus and Pluto, which last formed a similar T-square during the early years of the Great Depression.

The similarities between the period 1928-1933 are striking for our time span 2011 into 2012.

It is my advice to those reading this to be on the ball and not take anything at face value, nor to slack off, as the times are about to become even more challenging for several more years, according to my calculations.

In the short-range, August 2011 is best applied by reviewing, revising and redoing plans, schedules and aspirations for the second half of the year – extending into March 2012.

With Mercury retrograde early in August, and as Jupiter slows to retrograde by the end of the month, many people may find it difficult to advance because of the heightened celestial climate.

Moreover, Venus begins a new ‘evening star’ phase August 16-17 that will extend ten (10) months to June 2012. This phase shift also confirms that the world is about to take a deeper step into what I call the Cardinal Crisis years.

We will examine the synodic return cycle of Jupiter that relates directly to the global economy further in this August 1, 2011 edition of Global Astrology.

But first, let's take a closer look at one of the players in this synodic celestial mix - that of the planet Mars.

Mars: ‘Out of Bounds’

In Mundane Astrology, the declination movements of planets and their correlating influences on the temporal world have been long observed and studied, as have synodic returns throughout world history.

The astrologer Willow shows us how the planet Mars triggers the final wave of summer 2011's cardinal cross as she also provides a look ahead to future planetary formations.

On August 3, transiting Mars will have entered tropical Cancer, yet since July 23, 2011 Mars has been in what is known as ‘out of bounds,’ by declination.

Mundane Astrologer Jude Cowell wrote of Mars 'out of bounds' back in 2008 when she said,

“The Earth's orbit as viewed from the Sun is called the ecliptic and when a planet goes beyond 23 degrees 28 minutes in either north or south declination, that planet is said to be outside the boundaries of the ecliptic, or out-of-bounds.

In astrological terms, the energies of a planet when out of bounds tend to act in an exaggerated fashion and its effects may be extraordinarily distorted.

With Mars' archetype as the god of war, an out of bounds Mars engages in violent events, extreme aggression, and incendiary acts.

Then we see such things manifest as world leaders assassinated, arson perpetrated, bombs planted and triggered, and vicious disagreements wherever we turn - and our news sources are filled with them.

And fighting Mars understandably represents military forces--the soldier and the mercenary.

In a natal chart, Mars represents determination and drive, energy, action...one's desire nature.

Natally, an 'out of bounds' Mars indicates unusual drive toward self-expression and self-preservation. Other chart factors such as sign, house placement, and aspect influence an out of bounds Mars either positively or negatively.

The more negative expression may be a violent or sociopathic temperament, while a positive use of Mars' energies could be someone who becomes a famed explorer, an astronaut, or an Olympic athlete - physical exploits beyond the ordinary.

When I look at "political" or national charts, I consider all the planets as archetypal actors in a play. Mars (a male between 25 to 35 years old, give or take a year; the activist; the instigator or the one who disagrees, etc) has his role to play, while Jupiter (the judge, lawyer, guru, professor, preacher, priest, thespian, rich man, Republican, etc) has his well-rehearsed part in the theatrical performance as well.

Sun in a national chart is the leader, as we know, Mercury is the messenger, scribe, young person, trader, orator, and so on. An out of bounds planet in these charts may be considered as not acting in concert with the rest of the chart's energies (performers in the production.)

So when the world finds violent events and actions in the news day after day, we may be fairly certain (even without consulting an astrology chart) that testy, incendiary Mars, the activist, is out-of-bounds and raging beyond control against society once again - and that we are sure to receive something of a break from the pain and horror when crude Mars finally rejoins the panoply of the reasonable universe."

Australian Astrologer Alice Portman gives her view of when a planet is considered to be 'out of bounds':

“From the viewpoint of the Earth, the Sun has a steady and regular motion that maps the seasons. In fact it is the rotation of the Earth around the Sun that produces this motion, but I will use the Earth-based perspective.

When the Sun is on the Equator it is at 0-declination and when the Sun is moving into the Southern Hemisphere, this point is also 0 Libra.

As the Sun moves into the Southern Hemisphere it moves steadily to 23 S 26’22” and this point is when it is also at 0 Capricorn - high summer in our hemisphere and deep winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

This is the ‘boundary’ of the Sun in the Southern Hemisphere, it is the highest declination it reaches and marks the boundary of the Tropic of Capricorn.

As declination in the skies is the same as latitude on Earth, this marks the most southerly latitude at which the sun can appear directly overhead at noon.

The Sun then moves back towards the equator and reaches 0 declination and 0 Aries at the equinox (equal day and night) on 21st September.

As the Sun is leaving our Hemisphere, this marks Southern Hemisphere Autumn and as the Sun is moving into the Northern Hemisphere latitudes, it marks their Spring.

The Sun steadily moves towards 23N26’22”, which is also when it is at 0 Cancer, high summer in the Northern Hemisphere and deep winter in the Southern.

This marks the boundary of the Tropic of Cancer. It is the most Northerly latitude in which the Sun can appear directly overhead at noon.

From this you get the Southern Hemisphere signs of Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces as the Sun is in these Zodiac signs when in Southern Declination.

The Northern Hemisphere signs are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo and Virgo as the Sun is in these signs when in Northern Declination.

Any planet whose declination moves beyond this Solar ‘boundary’ is called ‘out of bounds.’ Because the Moon and inner planets achieve higher declinations, they can be ‘out of bounds’ quite often.

The Moon can reach a declination of almost 29° every 18.6 years when the North Node is near 0° Aries. Mercury and Mars achieve a declination of approximately 27° at times. However, in 1907 Mars got out to 28S54.

On rare occasions, Venus will reach 28°. Uranus and Pluto go out-of-bounds less frequently and stay there for longer periods. Saturn and Neptune have nearly the same declination as the Sun while Jupiter only goes a few minutes beyond 23°27 and so is rarely ‘out of bounds’.

Most Out of Bounds planets are in Gemini or Cancer (northern declination) or Sagittarius and Capricorn (southern declination).

In my opinion planets that are out of bounds describe the ability to function outside of the box. These positions often describe those with an intense need for personal freedom; lateral thinkers; original artists; people who are not bound by normal conventions and the rules of society; and sometimes people who are just lawless.

Therefore many original and unusual people have out of bounds planets. For example Mozart had an out of bounds Mars at 27N11 and also at 0 Cancer. This may have described his genius, particularly as Mars was also involved in a quintile pattern (creativity).

Many modern day astrologers have ‘out of bounds’ planets as astrology is presently not part of mainstream thought. This is particularly the case for astrologers who can be termed ‘original thinkers’ and offer new ideas or new information in our area.”

Mundane Astrologer Gonzalo Pena Tamez:
On The Violence Of Mars 'out of bounds' by Declination

By
Gonzalo Pena Tamez, mundane Astrolog.S

“It is interesting that only hours after the Norway terrorist attacks transiting Mars went 'Out of Bounds by Declination.' Mars will remain so until August 22.

In other words, Mars is spending almost one month 'out of bounds' from July 23 to August 22.

The peak of this period will be reached on August 7th when Mars' declination will be 23N47', about 21' greater than the maximum solar declination of 23N26'.

As of July 28, 2011, Mars’ declination was 23N34' - exceeding by almost 8 minutes the maximum solar declination.

Mars' declination will continue to increase every day until August 7th, then it will decrease every day until it comes again within bounds on August 22.

We are accustomed to witness very violent and bloody mundane developments when Mars is Out of Bounds by Declination.

Attacks in Norway

Often, such violent developments occur when Mars has just become Out of Bounds by Declination (which this time was when the Norway attacks took place) and when Mars reaches its maximum deviation from the maximum solar declination, which will be August 7th.

I have already pointed out that we are approaching a very dangerous interval:

From August 8 when transiting Mars in Cancer squares transiting Uranus in Aries, to August 11 when transiting Mars in Cancer opposes transiting Pluto in Capricorn.

In this video image, a double-decker bus and shops burn in the Tottenham neighborhood of north London, England on August 6, 2011. Police were attacked and police cars were burned in the wake of the shooting death of Mark Duggan, 29, a father of four, who was killed by a police intelligence unit as he sat in a minicab on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011. Hundreds of people took to the streets, rushed the police station and pelted riot police chanting "justice!"
Image: AP

In these three (3) days from August 8 to August 11 transiting Mars in Cancer is translating the light of the formative transiting Uranus-Pluto squares whose first (of 7) squares will strike on June 24, 2012.

Although we are still 11 months from the first of the seven (7) partiles of the transiting Uranus- Pluto squares that will last four-and-a half years in orb - currently the orb of this Uranus-Pluto square is of roughly one (1) degree.

Among other warnings that I have associated with transiting Mars' translation of the light of the transiting Uranus-Pluto squares - is the expected initial spike of the public health implications of the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster.

Transiting Mars will be in the sign of Cancer, associated with cancer ailments, and will form the T-Square with the formative transiting Uranus (rules uranium) and Pluto (rules plutonium) square.

From thus translating the light of the transiting Uranus-Pluto square by first squaring Uranus, and then opposing Pluto on the said dates.

Transiting Mars will soften up somewhat because it heads to sextile to transiting Jupiter in Taurus - but then Mars in Cancer will move toward squaring transiting Saturn in Libra (square of the proverbial malefics) partiling on August 25, 2011.

Because of the hard aspects that this latter square of the proverbial malefics will form in the U.S. chart and in the Dollar's chart, we are ready to witness the manifestation of the direst scenarios involving the dollar and the U.S. economy

That transiting Mars is going to be Out of Bounds by Declination in the interval - when it carries on the translation of the light of the formative transiting Uranus-Pluto square - only adds to the severity of this time interval that we will be watching attentively.”

~
An excellent mundane summary by astrologer Gonzalo Pena Tamez.

So we can see how Mars 'out of bounds by declination,' along with the translation of light to budding Uranus-Pluto squares and the synodic cycles of both Mercury and especially Mars - have significant relevance to our times - especially when it comes to extreme acts of violence as we have seen in Syria, Libya, Norway and elsewhere around the world.

How humanity faces the current and future rounds of planetary inclinations remains to be seen – however, from the viewpoints of mundane astrologers – trends are not looking favorable to say the least.

Jupiter & The Year 2012

By
Theodore White, mundane Astrolog.S

Another major synodic cycle ahead will be that of the planet Jupiter.

Jupiter's very important synodic cycle will arrive in 2012 and reflects its synodic phase of the year 1929 - in the constellation of the Twins - that of Gemini - where Jupiter’s southern node is also located at 15-degrees sidereal Gemini.

The year 2012 is a very active year. It features mutable transits within a major cardinal era with Saturn in Libra, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in tropical Capricorn. My forecast for 2012 is unfavorable, though it has little to do with the popular culture mania centered on the Mayan Calendar.

Despite claims of the 'end of the world,' in 2012, I caution people not to become enveloped in what is sure to be a year of fear-mongering by those who cannot read nor interpret astronomic transits.

For according to my calculations, time will go on and the year 2013 will arrive, so don't waste your time with those who use the year 2012 to scare others into believing that 'the world will end.'

However, 2012 is a powerful year. I expect the economies of nations to worsen, due to the very poor forecasting and management abilities of bankers, economists and policymakers.

I also expect a spate of global accidents associated with travel and I have serious concerns about health with the transmission of airborne disease that could become a pandemic.

In 2012, Jupiter will be at its synodic cycle of 15-16 degrees Gemini. This is exactly where Jupiter was located in October 1929, the month of the bank and market crash that resulted in the Great Depression of the 1930s.

The Global Economy

Readers of Global Astrology will already know I am not bullish on the world economy - and for very good reasons.

In my astrological economic analysis of Jupiter’s cycle relating to economics and society, it is my view that ‘kicking the can’ down the road will emerge as the absolutely worst strategy the outgoing establishment could have taken as a economic crash could easily become imminent next year.

In fact, that is exactly what I am predicting and have been for years. As much as I would like to be positive about matters, I am first and foremost a forecasting astrologer - and so, I tell it as I see it.

Medium-Range: Jupiter Retrograde
August 30, 2011 - December 25, 2011

Jupiter will station retrograde on August 30, 2011 at 10-Taurus and remain retrograde until Christmas Day 2011, when Jupiter will station direct at 0-Taurus.

Jupiter is known as a 'business planet," and as such, the influences of its retrograde motion through the first 10-degrees of Taurus means that financial matters will be negative through the second half of 2011.

This four-month period means to expect money-matters to get gradually worse leading straight through to the Christmas holidays and right into March 2012 as Jupiter retraces its steps back to 10-degrees of tropical Taurus.

It is important to think outside the box from August 2011 through to March 2012 overall because the economy will not get any better. That's the truth.

There are ways to soften things in the meantime, but this means using the generally placid holiday month of August (which will be anything but placid for many people) to make plans and readjustments to deal with the economic realities of what's to come.

As for next year, 2012, that year is even worse when it comes to the economy, jobs and making ends meet; so people who use the months between now and 2012 to make adjustments will be doing themselves and their families a huge favor.

Thanksgiving 2011 has a last quarter moon, which is low ebb, low energy. Christmas 2011 takes place just after a new moon on Christmas Eve, December 24, which is also low energy as well.

So don't expect too much out of both holidays as it is low-key this year. The further out you know this - the easier it will be to accept, adjust and prepare. Retail numbers for Christmas 2011 will be deplorable to say the least.

The point is this - anyone reading my forecasts should be making practical preparations for a global economic depression. I have called the market crash to occur in 2012 - during the year of the general election - to be followed by a depressionary climate into the mid-Twenty-Tens.

In fact, the entire decade is one of deleveraging. Get used to it. There are opportunities out there for growth, but overall - the old economic structures are broke, outworn, outmoded and soon to be gone. We live in historic times. This is what I have forecasted for some time.

Those who are keen in watching world markets and who are honest about what they've seen, experienced and continue to see, will not be surprised to hear that a economic depression is ahead - in fact, it began several years ago.

The austerity measures touted in Europe and highlighted in the July 2011 edition of Global Astrology should speak volumes to everyone. However, by watching events in Greece and then in the United States over this summer's 'debt ceiling' crisis - what has been lacking is keen attention to the global economy.

The European Union is in sovereign debt crisis with financial emergencies popping up every couple of days. The United Kingdom's planned austerity is choking Britain's economy.

I forecasted two years ago that I expected China's economy to slow. The nation of India suffers with rising inflation while China's economy has been overheating for some time, with inflation rates also creeping upward.

Japan's economy has been stagnate for a little over 20 years and the March 2011 earthquake, tsunami and resulting Fukushima nuclear disaster does not bode well for Japan's economic health in the medium-term.

Manufacturing indices will come in lower than expected in several countries, including the U.S., and we all know that the true unemployment rate is in double-digits and well above the officially touted 9.2% - so let's not fool ourselves.

As the planets incline, we can expect the global economy to cool down as we draw nearer to the year 2012. This is what I have been forecasting for a long time time based on the principles of mundane astrology.

The banking crisis really began in 1999 with the end of the Depression-era Glass-Steagall Act in the United States which gave way to the real estate bubble of the 2000s. It culminated in the year 2005, was ignored through to March 2007, when it emerged that the first cracks in the financial system were widening.

This extended to the investment bank crisis of summer 2007 which was also ignored until the Saturn-Uranus opposition kicked off and by summer 2008, the financial system was in crisis mode.

One year had passed between 2007 and 2008, while financial insiders knew that the residential real estate mortgages were imploding, but the public was kept in the dark until it was too late. That point arrived in August-September 2008.

The period between September 2008 and October 2011 has been one of ‘kicking the can down the road’ despite the mathematics which says that the longer a problem goes unresolved, the worse the crisis.

Jupiter enters tropical Gemini on June 11, 2012, six days after the major Venus Transit occurs. The significator for this time in 2012 indicate major events taking place in the economy and politics which are part and parcel of past failures to innovate, achieve and progress, but rather than to lie, steal and cheat.

When Jupiter makes its synodic return and retrogrades at 16-Gemini on October 4, 2012, the following day Saturn enters tropical Scorpio, where it will transit until September 2015.

In my forecast, the cycle from 2012 to 2015 signifies the depth of a new Greater Depression and calls on people everywhere to adjust themselves for the difficult years ahead amid major generational change worldwide.

These years reflect a time of significant readjustments, the decline of old cultural modes with the rise of new cultural and societal attitudes. The year 2012 is a kind of transitional era that crosses over into a new era - to be led by a new generation.

Jupiter's transit into Gemini signifies an important phase for the world.

Sidereal astrologer Nick Anthony Fiorenza says of Gemini:

“The Twins are marked by the two principal stars: Pollux, the immortal extraterrestrial one and Castor the mortal terrestrial one, the extraterrestrial incarnate.

These two stars, which mark the Twins' heads, lie in the last few degrees of sidereal Gemini. The Twins stand upon the galactic equator at a 60° angle to the ecliptic plane, with the ‘Feet of the Twins’ lying in earlier Gemini, upon the ‘Gate of Man’.

Thus, Gemini is a galactic constellation and an ecliptical constellation, which inspires the expression of sol / soul purpose through the daily activity of humankind - the theme of the Gate of Man.

Sidereal Gemini is of high intensity intellectual communication, information, commerce, goods and services, and of their exchange.

The role of the Gemini Twins is of partnership in mutual cooperation participating in the human world, one of linking and uniting the mission of the soul (galactic plane) into and through our daily affairs in the world. The Twins work hand-in-hand for the betterment and evolutionary fulfillment of humankind.”

Back in 2006, I based my forecasts on the coming decline of world economies on the synodic returns of the planets - particularly those of Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto.

We are in an era reminiscent of three decades – the 1930s, the 1970s and the mid-1980s – which reflect a time of generational transition, cultural change, economic upheavals and radicalism versus plutocracy.

How the world emerges out of the Twenty-Tens will greatly depend not on governments, but on populations and their actions and reactions to what they believe has been outrageous levels of corruption, greed, mismanagement and stupidity by the dying oligarch and aged baby boomer establishment.

Mundane Advice

My forecast is for worsening times ahead. At least for the medium-term. The hard times come as a direct result of the corruption, mismanagement, greed and neglect of the past decade.

While each person has their own unique nativity and secondary progressions, what follows is a general guide toward preparing for the months and years ahead. The significance of world transits calls on those keen on planetary transits to make preparations.

First - have clear goals and objectives. It is best to have 3-4 major long-range goals. This will determine your short and medium-range goals instantly.

Make your schedules. Stay busy. Pace yourself. Make deadlines and demand from others whom you work or associate to also make their deadlines. If they do not - then move on. Do not babysit adults who are not able to meet the obligations and responsibilities of time.

Apply the time-management skills of a Capricorn and solve problems. Get the job done. Be curt. Be smart. Be smooth. And be fast.

Laziness - especially in the Twenty-Tens - should not be tolerated. If you do allow laziness, drama, procrastination and sloppiness, then expect any and all goals, objectives and plans to fail outright. You might as well have never started if you allow yourself or others to be unreliable.

Time is very valuable, but time is not money. Once time is wasted - it is gone - forever.

Do not sell yourself short. Be patient, clear, practical and a positive thinker.

Concentrate on your assets. Remember that you’re better than you think you are.

Avoid fluffy do-nothing 'new age' language. The world is a serious place, so you must be a serious person.

Apply a strong vocabulary with big, bright and positive practical words which inspire and promise hope, happiness. Feel pleasure when you encounter victory over obstacles.

Extend your outlooks to include months and years. See what you can be and not only what is.

Add value to people, to things and to yourself.

Be above the trivial matters. Rather, focus on mature objectives by asking yourself, “is this really important?”

Study your setbacks to give you a better path to success. When you lose anything, learn from any mistakes then move on

Be courageous and be your own critic. Seek to know any faults/weaknesses, then correct them because doing so makes you a professional.

See the bigger picture and work accordingly. Luck is never a factor in that rather than blaming luck discover what went wrong and then correct it.

Mix performance with experimentation but stick to your new goals and objectives. Don’t frustrate yourself by being rigid, stagnant or fearful. Try out new approaches to problems and be bold.

Every situation has good and bad sides. Find out which ones are good and then encourage positive progress with others who do the same. Avoid negative, self-serving, self-indulgent and unreliable people.

Know your personal astrological transits. The years going deeper into the Twenty-Tens is not a time to be ignorant of your own transits.

In my mundane assessment, it is time for people to wake up from their slumber and to realize that times are changing.

The transpersonal effects of the inclinations and synodic returns of the planets on populations worldwide will also affect you individually. This is why it is important to be aware of the world events of this new decade.
~

World Transits indicate the synodic planetary returns of the early Twenty-Tens reflects the era of the late 1920s and early-to-mid 1930s.

That was an era of radical fascist and communist battles - an ideological war mixed with rampant nationalism and peppered with racist paganism versus established cultural traditions and religion.

These clashes ultimately led to the outbreak of World War II (1939-1945) which was an extension of the previous global ideological conflict of World War I (1914-1918.)

The rise of pseudo-religious and political-fanatic radicalism was marked by hatred of others seen as 'different' and led to the murders of tens of millions of people worldwide.

Yet, what those who perpetuate violence under the aegis of politico-religious mantra fail to understand is that the world itself has always been diverse.

As the world transits show us - the synodic returns of Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Uranus - indicate that the early years of the Twenty-Tens reveal the rise of hatred, nationalism and cultural bias.

With the synodic inclinations, once again mundane astrologers observe the spread of radical nationalistic fundamentalist individuals, groups and their movements intent on causing mayhem by means of madness and the murder of innocents.

The Cardinal Crisis
Terror, Tragedy & Tears in Norway

A man helps a woman out of the government district in central Oslo, Norway on July 22, 2011 in the wake of a massive blast caused by a car-bomb. The huge explosion damaged government buildings, including Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg's office. The blast blew out most windows on the 17-story building that housed Stoltenberg's office, as well as nearby ministries including the oil ministry, which was on fire.

The New York Times

Oslo, Norway - July 30, 2011 -- The Norwegian man charged with a pair of attacks in Oslo that killed perhaps as many as 92 people left behind a detailed manifesto outlining his preparations and calling for a Christian war to defend Europe against the threat of Muslim domination, according to Norwegian and American officials familiar with the investigation.

As stunned Norwegians grappled with the deadliest attack in the country since World War II, a portrait began to emerge of the suspect - Anders Behring Breivik, 32.

The police identified him as a right-wing fundamentalist Christian, while acquaintances described him as a gun-loving Norwegian obsessed with what he saw as the threats of multiculturalism and Muslim immigration.

“We are not sure whether he was alone or had help,” a police official, Roger Andresen, said at a televised news conference. “What we know is that he is right-wing and a Christian fundamentalist.”

In the 1,500-page manifesto, posted on the Web hours before the attacks, Mr. Breivik recorded a day-by-day diary of months of planning for the attacks, and claimed to be part of a small group that intended to “seize political and military control of Western European countries and implement a cultural conservative political agenda.”

He predicted a conflagration that would kill or injure more than a million people, adding, “The time for dialogue is over. We gave peace a chance. The time for armed resistance has come.”

The manifesto was signed Andrew Berwick, an Anglicized version of his name. A former American government official briefed on the case said investigators believed the manifesto was Mr. Breivik’s work.

The manifesto, entitled “2083: A European Declaration of Independence,” equates liberalism and multiculturalism with “cultural Marxism,” which the document says is destroying European Christian civilization.

The document also describes a secret meeting in London in April 2002 to reconstitute the Knights Templar, a Crusader military order. It says the meeting was attended by nine representatives of eight European countries, evidently including Breivik, with an additional three members unable to attend, including a “European-American.”

The document does not name the attendees or say whether they were aware of Mr. Breivik’s planned attacks, though investigators presumably will now try to determine if the people exist and what their connection is to Mr. Breivik.

Thomas Hegghammer, a terrorism specialist at the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment, said the manifesto bears an eerie resemblance to those of Osama bin Laden and other Al Qaeda leaders, though from a Christian rather than a Muslim point of view.

Like Breivik’s manuscript, the major Qaeda declarations have detailed accounts of the Crusades, a pronounced sense of historical grievance and calls for apocalyptic warfare to defeat the religious and cultural enemy.

“It seems to be an attempt to mirror Al Qaeda, exactly in reverse,” Mr. Hegghammer said.

Mr. Breivik is also believed to have posted this video just before his alleged rampage on July 22, 2011 summarizing his arguments. In its closing moments, the video depicts Breivik in military uniform, holding assault weapons.

Rarely has a mass murder suspect left so detailed an account of his activities. The manifesto describes in detail his purchase of chemicals, his sometimes ham-handed experiments making explosives and his first successful test detonation of a bomb in a remote location on June 13.

He intersperses the account of bomb-making with details of his television-watching, including the Eurovision music contest and the American police drama “The Shield.”

The manifesto ends with a chilling sign-off: “I believe this will be my last entry. It is now Fri., July 22nd, 12.51.”

Indeed, the operation appeared to have been extremely well planned.

The Oslo government building housing the prime minister's office moments after the car-bomb blast.

According to the police, Mr. Breivik first drew security services to central Oslo when he allegedly exploded a car bomb outside a 17-story government office building - killing at least seven people in the blast.

Then, Breivik is said to have taken a public ferry to Utoya Island, where he carried out a remarkably meticulous attack on Norway’s current and future political elite.

Dressed as a police officer, he announced that he had come to check on the security of the young people who were attending a political summer camp there, many of them the children of members of the governing Labor Party.

He gathered the campers together and for some 90 hellish minutes he coolly and methodically shot them, hunting down those who fled. At least 85 people, some as young as 16, were killed.

It has been a rite of passage for Norway’s liberal elite for decades: a summer camp set on a verdant Nordic isle called Utoya, where this week hundreds of young people gathered to meet government ministers, dive into election strategy sessions and maybe find a little summer romance.

The heart-shaped Norwegian Island Of Utoya

But for Helen Andreassen, a 21-year-old aspiring politician, a celebration of bright futures became something horrifyingly different when she and her friends jumped from a second-story window to escape the bullets of a man who was hunting them specifically because of their politics.

They ran for their lives, she said, tumbling down the rocky heights to the sea shore, hoping the man in the police officer’s uniform would not pursue them into the water. But he kept shooting.

In this cellphone image taken by a hiding teen, Anders Breivik (standing circled onshore) dressed as a police officer, allegedly walks along the bloody shoreline of Utoya Island, riddled with bodies, where he points his weapon at a teenager standing in the water (circled far left) who holds his hand up and pleads for his life. The teen was shot point-blank and killed.

“He was standing just by the water, using his rifle, just taking his time, aiming and shooting,” Ms. Andreassen said. “It was a slaughter of young children."

For more than an hour, the gunman stalked the forests and steep, rocky shores of the island. There were no bridges to provide escape. Time was on his side.

The young people desperately silenced their cellphones and stripped off colorful clothing. But the shooter was methodical.

After killing several people on one part of the island, he went to the other, and, dressed in his police uniform, calmly convinced the children huddled there that he meant to save them. When they emerged into the open, he fired again and again.

“He shot a boy in the back,” said Stine Renate Haaheim, 27, a member of Parliament who was also among those hiding. “I saw that some people were falling, and we turned around and ran. At that point I didn’t look back.”

The police have identified the suspect as Anders Behring Breivik, who in his writings has portrayed himself as a modern knight, charged with driving out Islam and immigrants and the political correctness that he said had been wrongly invited into Norway and was thriving there.

The campers at Utoya Island appeared to be the embodiment of his hatred.

Organized by the youth wing of the ruling Labor Party, the camp has become a kind of multicultural incubator in recent years. Many of the victims in the shooting were the children of immigrants from Africa and Asia who have begun to stake out a greater role for themselves in Norwegian society.

Khamshajiny Gunaratnam, 23, a camp member, was born in Sri Lanka and moved to Norway when she was 3. She is dark-skinned, wears a nose stud and speaks both Norwegian and English in seemingly native accents.

She described a Norway that was increasingly divided along class and ethnic lines, and said there was a growing hostility toward people who were not ethnically Norwegian, even those born in the country.

But she saw the camp on Utoya as a sanctuary, a promise of a better country. “It was for me the safest place in the world,” she said.

Victims of The Tragedy

Anders Behring Breivik, a right-wing extremist, is alleged to have killed many dozens of people in the Oslo bombing and shooting rampage at an Island summer camp for young political activists on July 22, 2011.

For Gunaratnam, and hundreds of others trapped with her, and generations of current and former Labor leaders - the island’s personal significance now includes a national tragedy.

People pay their respects with a sea of floral tributes to the victims of the July 22, 2011 attacks, outside a cathedral in Oslo, Norway.

Norway’s prime minister, Jens Stoltenberg, was scheduled to speak to the campers that weekend. A former leader of Labor’s youth wing, he had attended the camp every summer since the 1970s.

The first funeral was held Friday, July 29, 2011 for 18-year-old Bano Rashid.

The killer “turned a paradise of my youth into hell,” Mr. Stoltenberg said when he went to the area to meet with survivors and their families, as did King Harald V and Queen Sonja.

Norwegian King Harald and Queen Sonja weep for the victims of Oslo Bombing and Utoya Island shootings at a memorial service in Oslo cathedral.

The police are working on the assumption that Mr. Breivik, having drawn Norway's security services to central Oslo when he allegedly exploded a car bomb outside government offices, then traveled to Utoya Island, taking one of the regular ferries that brought campers and others over from the mainland.

When he arrived, about 600 people were already there, most gathered in the main assembly building for a briefing on the bombing. Many came from political families and were frantically trying to get a hold of relatives who worked at the site of the blast.

Ms. Andreassen was able to get in touch with her father, Lasse Kristiansen, a labor union worker, to determine that he was uninjured in the blast. But a short time later, he received a text message telling him to call the police.

“After that, time stood still,” Mr. Kristiansen said.

His daughter’s cellphone went silent, and it was hours before he knew that she and another daughter had saved themselves by swimming until they were picked up by a passing boat.

There was little shelter or chance for those caught back on the island. Witnesses told Norwegian news agencies that the shooter sprayed bullets into piles of dead bodies, apparently seeking those that were hiding among them. By Saturday night, July 30, 2011 authorities knew that 85 had been killed, and still sought bodies in the water, or in an unchecked corner of Utoya.

“He seemed he was enjoying it” Magnus Stenseth, a youth leader, told the Norwegian newspaper VG. “He walked around the island as if he had absolute power.”

It took police about 40 minutes to reach the island, but once they confronted Mr. Breivik, his lethal animation seemed to melt away, they said. He surrendered without a struggle, seemingly content.

The police said that they expected the death toll to climb. There were still bodies in the bombed government buildings in Oslo, and at least four people missing on Utoya.

The police also said that unexploded munitions were still in some downtown Oslo buildings, and they had not ruled out the possibility that Mr. Breivik had accomplices.

He was equipped, the police said, with an automatic rifle and a handgun; when the police finally got to the island - about 40 minutes after they were called, the police said - Mr. Breivik surrendered.

The police also said he had registered a farm in Rena, in eastern Norway, which allowed him to order a large quantity of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, an ingredient that can be used to make explosives. The authorities were investigating whether the chemical had been used in the bombing.

Besides the manifesto, Mr. Breivik left other hints of his motives.

A Facebook page and Twitter account were set up under his name days before the rampage. The Facebook page cites philosophers like Machiavelli, Kant and John Stuart Mill.

His lone Twitter post, while not calling for violence, paraphrased Mill - “One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100,000 who have only interests” - suggesting what he saw as his ability to act.

Those postings, along with what was previously known about Mr. Breivik publicly, aligned with but hardly predicted the bloody rampage he would undertake on Friday.

Before then, he had been a member of the right-wing Progress Party, which began as an antitax protest and has been stridently anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim.

Joran Kallmyr, a member of the party who is now Oslo’s vice mayor for transportation, said he met Mr. Breivik several times in 2002 and 2003 at local party meetings. “He was very quiet, almost a little bit shy,” Mr. Kallmyr said.

“But he was a normal person with good behavior. He never shared any extreme thoughts or speech with us. There was absolutely no reason to expect that he could do something like this. We’re very shocked.”

Mr. Breivik quit the party in 2006, apparently disappointed by the party’s move toward the center.

“He didn’t like our politics, I guess, and moved on,” Mr. Kallmyr said.

His Internet posts also indicated contempt for the Conservative Party, which he accused of having given up the battle against multiculturalism.

But on July 22, 2011 he directed his firepower at the center-left Labor Party, which leads the coalition government.

“Breivik feels that multiculturalism is destroying the society and that the enforcing authority is the prime minister and the Labor Party, the lead party of contemporary Norwegian politics,” said Anders Romarheim, a fellow at the Norwegian Institute for Defense Studies.

But the attacks, along with what appear to have been years of preparation for them, raised questions about whether the Norwegian security authorities, concentrating on threats of Islamic terrorism, had overlooked the threat from the anti-Islamic right.

“This is the Norwegian equivalent to Timothy McVeigh,” the right-wing American who bombed a federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995, said Marcus Buck, a political scientist at the University of Tromso in northern Norway.

“This is right-wing domestic terrorism, and the big question is to what extent Norwegian agencies have diverted their attention from what they knew decades ago was the biggest threat” to focus instead on Islamic militants.

The unclassified versions of the last three Norwegian Police Security Service reports assessing national threats all played down any threat by right-wing and nationalist extremists. Instead, the reports emphasized the dangers posed by radical Islam, groups opposed to Norway’s military involvement in Afghanistan and Libya, and others.

The 2011 report, released early this year, concluded that “the far-right and far-left extremist communities will not represent a serious threat to Norwegian society.”

Even after the attacks, that appeared to be the official position.

“Compared to other countries I wouldn’t say we have a big problem with right-wing extremists in Norway,” Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg told reporters at a news conference on Saturday. “But we have had some groups, we have followed them before, and our police is aware that there are some right-wing groups.”

Even if the authorities had focused on right-wing groups, it was unlikely that they would have noticed Mr. Breivik.

Kari Helene Partapuoli, director of the Norwegian Center Against Racism, said Mr. Breivik did not belong to any violent neo-Nazi groups that she was aware of, and his Internet postings, before those of last week, did not espouse violence.

“The distance between the words spoken and the acts that he carried out is gigantic, because what he did is in a different league of what the debates have to do about,” she said.

Arild Groven, secretary general of the Norwegian Shooting Association, a sports group, confirmed that Mr. Breivik had belonged to Oslo Pistolklubb, one of the 520 clubs in the association.

“We all read and watch the news about the shootings in the United States,” Mr. Groven said. “But it doesn’t happen here.”

Mr. Romarheim said in some ways the homegrown nature of the attack made it harder for Norwegians to accept. “With 9/11 in America, people could ask, ‘Who are they?’ and could pour their rage out on someone else,” he said.

“But we can’t disavow this person, he’s one of us.”

The Alleged Killer
Anders Behring Breivik (wearing red shirt) in police custody

Anders Behring Breivik is the 32-year-old Norwegian man charged with killing at least 76 people in an Oslo bombing and a shooting rampage at a summer camp for young political activists on July 22, 2011.

Mr. Breivik was seized by the police at a Labor party camp on the island of Utoya, not far from the capital. They said he killed 68 people there, most of them young people attending a political camp run by the dominant Labor party.

The authorities described him as a right-wing fundamentalist Christian, a gun-loving Norwegian obsessed with what he saw as the threat of multiculturalism and Muslim immigration to the cultural and patriotic values of his country.

On July 24, the police and Mr. Breivik's lawyer said that he had admitted to "the facts'' in the rampage.

Mr. Breivik's lawyer, Geir Lippestad, said that his client called the killings "atrocious,'' but "necessary.

“He wanted a change in society and, from his perspective, he needed to force through a revolution. He wished to attack society and the structure of society,” Mr. Lippestad said.

Mr. Breivik appeared in court in a closed hearing on July 25 and said that two cells of extremists collaborated with him, but police say they found no evidence of collaborators, and cast doubt on Breivik's other assertions.

He was ordered held for eight weeks - the first four in solitary confinement.

The judge said after the hearing that Breivik had acknowledged that he had carried out the attacks but had pleaded not guilty.

Mr. Lippestad portrayed Breivik as a “very cold” person who lived in his own world, buttressed by drugs and the belief that he was a warrior doomed to die for a cause others did not comprehend.

On July 26, 2011 Mr. Lippestad told a news conference, “This whole case has indicated that he is insane.” He declined to say whether his client would plead insanity as a defense when his case comes to trial.

The initial death toll given by the police was 93 - 86 at the Island camp and seven people died from the car-bomb in central Oslo. That was revised on July 25, 2011 to 68 people murdered on the island and 8 killed by the Oslo car-bomb.

Breivik's Writings

In a Facebook page and a Twitter account set up under his name days before the rampage, suggesting a conscious effort to construct a public persona and leave a legacy for others, Mr. Breivik cited philosophers like Machiavelli, Kant and John Stuart Mill.

Although there did not appear to be calls for violence in his Internet postings, he hinted at his will to act in his lone Twitter post, paraphrasing Mill: “One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100,000 who have only interests.”

In a 1,500-page manifesto, posted on the Web hours before the attacks, Mr. Breivik recorded a day-by-day diary of months of planning for the attacks, and claimed to be part of a small group that intended to “seize political and military control of Western European countries and implement a cultural conservative political agenda.”

He predicted a conflagration that would kill or injure more than a million people, adding, “The time for dialouge is over. We gave peace a chance. The time for armed resistance has come.”

Mr. Breivik’s manifesto spells out plans for using anthrax as part of his war to defend Europe against what he called the rising threat of Muslim domination. But experts in biological weapons said the manifesto showed no evidence that he had actually obtained the lethal germ or could wield it as a weapon.

They said the document - at least on the subject of germ attacks - evoked the air of an armchair theorist rather than someone poised to commit mass slaughter.

The manifesto was signed Andrew Berwick, an anglicized version of his name. A former American government official briefed on the case said investigators believed the manifesto was Breivik’s work.

It says the meeting was attended by nine representatives of eight European countries, evidently including Mr. Breivik, with an additional three members unable to attend, including a “European-American.”

Horrors of the Attacks

The horror of the twin strikes on the government building and a summer camp on Utoya Island, a remarkably meticulous attack on Norway’s current and future political elite, came into focus in interviews with witnesses, who painted a picture of 90 minutes of hell that left at least 85 people dead, some as young as 16.

The Crown Princess of Norway's step-brother was one of the first victims gunned down in the massacre that left 86 dead at a youth summer camp.

Norway's Princess Mette-Marit

Trond Berntsen, the son of Princess Mette-Marit's late stepfather, was among those killed when Anders Behring Breivik opened fire at the Labour party camp on Utoya island.

A death in the family: Security-man Trond Berntsen, the step-brother of Norway's Princess Mette-Marit was one of the first victims killed on Utoya Island.

An off-duty police officer, Mr Berntsen had been hired to provide private security to the island retreat, and was one of the first persons killed.

As soon as the shooting started, they said, people panicked, running in all directions, tumbling down the island’s rocky hill in an attempt to reach the sea. Even after many made it into the water, the gunman calmly and methodically shot at those who were swimming.

The police also said that unexploded munitions were still in some downtown Oslo buildings, and they had not ruled out the possibility that Mr. Breivik had accomplices.

The police are working on the assumption that Breivik, having drawn security services to central Oslo when he exploded a car bomb outside government offices, then traveled to Utoya Island dressed as a police officer.

Once there, he said he had come to check on the security of the young political campers, gathered them together and proceeded, coldly, to shoot them and then hunt down those who fled.

He was equipped, the police said, with an automatic rifle and a handgun; when the police finally got to the island, about 40 minutes after the shooting started, Mr. Breivik surrendered when they called out to him, dropping his weapons.

Utoya is a wooded retreat accessible only by boat about 19 miles northwest of Oslo. The police said that difficulty reaching the island delayed their response.

Norway’s prime minister, Jens Stoltenberg, had been scheduled to speak to the campers; a former leader of Labor’s youth wing, he had attended the camp every summer since 1974.

Background
A boy casts a single rose in memorial to the victims who died near the island of Utoya, Norway.

Norwegian analysts said that the country's right-wing groups were very small, having shrunk considerably since the 1990s, and had been quiet.

Even the Progress Party, which began as an anti-tax protest and has been stridently anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim in the past, has moved more to the center, to the point that it is seen as a potential coalition partner for the Conservative Party in the 2013 general election.

When Mr. Breivik was not plotting mass murder and fine-tuning the bomb he detonated here, he was busy playing video games and blogging, listening to Euro pop and watching episodes of “True Blood” - except on Sunday nights, when he usually dined with his mother.

It was a parallel life he maintained meticulously in recent years. Former classmates and colleagues described him as unremarkable and easy to forget, qualities, perhaps inborn, that he cultivated - consciously, he would say - to mask his dedication to what he called his “martyrdom operation.”

For years, Breivik, who is 32, participated in debates in Internet forums on the dangers of Islam and immigration. It is not clear at what point he decided that violence was the solution to the ills he believed were tearing European civilization asunder.

Before the attacks that he has admitted mounting on government buildings and a children’s summer camp, he was careful never to telegraph his intentions.

“He didn’t say anything you could remember,” said Stig Fjellskaalnes, who knew Mr. Breivik when he was a member of Norway’s conservative Progress Party in the early 2000s. “He’s one of the crowd, if you know what I mean. You forget him.”

Yet it was about a decade ago that Mr. Breivik started to change. Once a schoolboy who was fond of hip-hop music and had a Muslim best friend, in his 20s he began to view the immigrants who flowed freely into Norway and elsewhere in Europe as enemies, and those who sought to accommodate them as traitors, worthy only of execution.

“Around year 2000 I realized that the democratic struggle against the Islamization of Europe, European multiculturalism, was lost,” Breivik wrote in a manifesto that he published on the Web shortly before the attacks:

“I decided to explore alternative forms of opposition. Protesting is saying that you disagree. Resistance is saying you will put a stop to this. I decided I wanted to join the resistance movement.”

Early in life, Mr. Breivik, far from being a radical, appeared to be on a track to join Norway’s political establishment.

He grew up in Skoyen, a middle-class district of western Oslo. His father, a civil servant, and mother, a nurse, divorced when he was a year old. Beyond that, his childhood seems to have been uneventful; Mr. Breivik said in his manifesto that it was happy.

Under French police guard: Jens Breivik (top center) the father of Anders Breivik, at his house in Cournanel, southern France.

Anders Breivik attended the elite high school where the country’s current king, Harald V, and his son once studied. Former classmates remembered him as quiet but intelligent, with a small rebellious streak: he was a prolific graffiti artist.

Toward the end of high school, he joined the youth wing of the Progress Party, drawn to its anti-immigrant platform and market capitalist bent. But those who knew him from those days said that he failed to leave much of a mark.

He began to struggle with life, those who knew him said. He became estranged from his father, who moved to France. Then his sister, Elisabeth, on whom he seemed to rely in his father’s absence, moved to the United States and married an American.

It was a time when, according to his manifesto, his political views began to transmute. He began to perceive what he said was the hostility of Muslim youth. He latched on to reports of attacks against ethnic Norwegian men and rapes of ethnic Norwegian women by immigrant gangs.

Dagbladet, a national newspaper, quoted an unnamed fellow student from Mr. Breivik’s high school days as saying that Mr. Breivik started showing an interest in far-right and neo-Nazi movements around the age of 18, in the late 1990s, and that he was rumored to have worked as a doorman or bouncer at neo-Nazi events. He would later become critical of neo-Nazi groups.

Mr. Breivik wrote that the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999 was a tipping point for him, describing the operation meant to halt a genocide as a betrayal of a fellow Christian people for the sake of Muslims.

He spent the next decade slowly working out his plan, though few people, it seems, had any inkling of it.

To earn money for the attacks, he wrote that he had started a company that earned him millions. Neighbors casted doubt on this claim, however, saying they thought he had inherited money from relatives.

As he went about gathering six tons of ammonium nitrate fertilizer and turning aspirin powder into pure acetylsalicylic acid for his bomb, he led an active life online, railing against Muslims and Marxists in debate forums.

The police say he rented a farm in eastern Norway not far from the capital and holed up there for several months to prepare his bomb.

When not surfing conservative blogs, Breivik was fighting virtual demons, ogres and other fantastical creatures in online role-playing games. He was a regular in talk forums for players of  “World of Warcraft,” using a busty female as his avatar under the handle Conservatism.

The Cardinal Crisis
Were Baby Boomers Victims Of Mind Control?

by Theodore White, mundane Astrolog.S

When you look at the history of the last 50 years, what one sees is a odd and confusing mix of very strange cultural, economic, political and societal events that appear to be out of rhythm with world transits.

Such is the case with the history of the oligarchy and the Baby Boomer generation.

Today, we live in challenging times where boomers, now senior citizens, are often seen dressing as young children and in denial of their own age as elderly.

It is a common sight in 2011 to see senior baby boomers behaving in ways that are dysfunctional, maladaptive and strangely enough - oddly acting as if they are not senior citizens.

The sayings of Boomers that "70 is the new 40" and "60 is the new 30" are terms society has never heard before. The establishment of Baby Boomers not only seem reluctant to grow up, but are wholly in denial of the aging process as if they somehow are above it all.

Strange days indeed.

The events of the 1950s into the 1960s and 1970s reveal a very disturbing path where evildoers, for reasons they only can explain, decided to spread mind-altering drugs to teenagers and young people - just entering colleges in the 1960s.

The events of the 1960s - the assassinations, the Vietnam War and the resulting 'counter-revolution' shows clear signs of programs designed to alter human behavior - for the worst.

Snippets of this history include:

1951 - Sandoz pharmaceuticals, a Swiss company, agrees to an exclusive contract with the U.S. Government to deliver 100 grams a week of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) and not to provide any to "communist countries."

1953 - Project MKULTRA initiated at the CIA, at the suggestion of Richard Helms, then an assistant director. Project continued at least until 1963; almost all records of the project were destroyed, at the direction of Helms, in 1973, when Senate investigations of the CIA began closing in on this subject.

MKULTRA was specifically designed to explore the use of mind- and behavior-altering substances as part of global strategic intelligence warfare. MKULTRA, in its final phase, "involved surreptitious administration [of LSD] to unwitting non-volunteer subjects in normal life settings by undercover officers of the Bureau of Narcotics acting for the CIA,"  according to a Senate Report.

Harold Abramson proposes to the CIA an $85,000 study of the effects of LSD on unwitting hospital patients. Funding for this project was funneled through the Macy Foundation.

Scientists working with SOD (CIA) administer LSD to one another; one of these, Dr. Olson, is permanently affected and later jumps or thrown out of a window in a New York hotel room while under the care of a CIA handler. Harold Abramson was the attending physician.

A year later, Abramson publishes the first of several articles dealing with the effects of LSD on Siamese fighting fish. Abramson was an allergist and pediatrician.

He was also responsible, during the 1950s, for turning on many of the Cybernetics group to LSD, including Frank Fremont-Smith, head of the Macy foundation and organizer of the LSD conferences (first of these held in 1959).

1954 - Lily Pharmaceuticals, with CIA funding, discovers how to synthesize LSD, ending US dependence on foreign supply. CIA arranges cut-out contracts with The Geschikter Foundation, the Josiah Macy Foundation, and the Society for the Investigation of Human Ecology, for human-subjects tests on LSD.

The U.S. Army Chemical Corps. administers LSD to 1000 American soldiers, called "volunteers," who then participated in a series of tests concerning battlefield performance. 95 "volunteers" were subsequently tested to evaluate the potential of LSD as an intelligence weapon. These tests were actually hidden from the CIA.

1959 - Gorman annex at Georgetown built with a CIA wing for testing human subjects. Geshickter Foundation is the cutout. Dr. Geshickter's foundation funded LSD experiments on terminally ill patients and on federal prisoners.

Geshickter's foundation funneled more than 2 million dollars to other Institutions, many of them universities, from the late 1950s until the early 1970s. Macy-funded first international "LSD therapy" conference.

1962 - The U.S. Army Chemical Corps.' Project Third Chance and Derby Hat, involve the involuntary testing of American military personnel and foreign nationals at overseas sites. These projects were also (unsuccessfully) concealed from the CIA.

What is obvious is that from the 1950s into the 1960s, LSD was sent to universities all over the United States just as Baby Boomers were entering colleges. By the mid-to-late 1960s, the mind-altering drugs were so prevalent that parents of that era heard their children chanting to "turn on, drop acid and drop out."

The odd behavior was more than simply a case of rebellious young people. For instance, the famous cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead, who attended the 1968 First annual symposium of the American Society for Cybernetics Symposium entitled "Purposive Systems" said:

"I have just lived through a conference where I found myself wishing nostalgically for the dear old days of the late 1930s, when the only people one had to worry about were communists who had clearly defined goals which were different from your own...

"But in this recent conference there were groups of young people whose only goals was to disrupt, who called meetings and then discussed in public such questions as whether they should stay in the conference and subvert it or walk out and get more publicity.

When one asked what their aim was, they had no answer, only a loose rationale of the desirability of disrupting all the establishments, even the ones they had themselves created," Mead said.

The psychodelic ride of the 1960s turned very bad by the end of that decade, just as Uranus entered Libra.

The Manson murders, the underground bombings, kidnappings and nebulous activity were serious signs of malefic activity when it came to human psychobiology and societal behaviors. This continued into the late 1970s and peaked with the mass massacre in Guyana under the leadership of Rev. Jim Jones.

What was happening in society to cause such disruptions?

Well, it seems that the entire generation of baby Boomers were used as unwitting test subjects in what can only be called mass mind-control with the application of mind-altering drugs.

LSD was delivered by the CIA to numerous universities across the United States where millions of Baby Boomer hippies were soon dropping acid, "turning on, tuning in and dropping out."

Consider what the founder of LSD had to say:

Bitter Tale Of The Acid Pioneer
The 100-year old inventor of LSD said Hippies Betrayed His Legacy

By William Langley

A home on a remote Swiss hilltop is about as high as Albert Hofmann gets these days. Stooped and snowy-haired, the inventor of LSD is 100-years-old and while old age is an inconvenience, the real burden he carries is a sense of lost opportunity.

Hofmann can be crotchety with visitors. It's not surprising. Raggedy acid heads and mind-expansionists occasionally find their way to the medieval hamlet of Burg-im-Limburg, possibly the unfreakiest place on the planet, and, to his evident displeasure, try to tell him how he opened their minds, man.

When I knock on his door he greets me with the words: "Go away."

It takes patience and the requisite reassurances to learn the extent to which this characteristically stiff-mannered Swiss scientist is haunted by his own legacy.

"LSD has phenomenal power to do good," he says. "We were like explorers in the human mind, full of wonder but careful where we trod. It was never meant to be taken for pleasure. Those people betrayed us."

By 'those people,' Hofmann means the riders of the great psychedelic wave that broke over popular culture in the 1960s with LSD as its lodestone and with the likes of the Beatles, Ken Kesey and Timothy Leary, the maverick acid apostle, as its godheads.

Hofmann was in his late thirties and doing routine work on plant compounds for a Basle chemical company when he first synthesized lysergic acid diethylamide from ergot, a poisonous black fungus that often grows on rye.

In the spring of 1943 he accidentally ingested a minute trace of the chemical and, intrigued by the peculiar feelings that resulted, decided to conduct a controlled experiment.

Three days later he gave himself a 0.25 mg dose of LSD, then got on his bicycle and pedaled home. The grey streets of wartime Basle weaved and feinted around him and a kaleidoscopic lights-how exploded in his head.

"A demon had invaded me, had taken possession of my mind, body and soul," he wrote.

LSD did, indeed, prove to have remarkable uses in psychiatry - particularly in the treatment of schizophrenia, alcoholism and impotence. But by 1968 its notoriety had overtaken it and a worldwide ban and a halt to development work was imposed.

During a weekend in 2006 in Basle, Swtizerland hordes of blotter-shot acid veterans, rockers, writers and 1960s sentimentalists gathered for a symposium in Hofmann's honour.

Among the British guests were Lady Amanda Feilding, "self-trepanner" and "consciousness researcher," John Dunbar, gallery owner and ex-husband of Marianne Faithfull, Barry Miles, co-founder of International Times and Eric Burdon of the rock band, The Animals.

Hofmann said he intended to make a brief appearance, reasoning, in his mannerly way, that it would have been impolite not to show up - but he says he owes his followers little thanks.

Hoffman died in 2008 at the age of 102, still bitter about the misuse of his invention.

So the founder of LSD blames the Hippies for abusing LSD, but is that what really happened?

We know from the history of the times that the Central Intelligence Agency were involved right from the start - long before LSD was even popularly known by anyone.

So what was really going on? What's the truth?

The long-term consequences of taking LSD can be discouraging to say the least and with millions of Baby Boomers now entering their senior years, it can only be surmised that continued maladaption and dysfunction will ensue into old age by those who abused the drug.

According to the National Institute of Health, the effects of LSD can be described as drug-induced psychosis-distortion or disorganization of a person's capacity to recognize reality, think rationally, or communicate with others.

Chemical composition of LSD

LSD's effects typically begin within 30 to 90 minutes of ingestion and may last as long as 12 hours. Users refer to LSD and other hallucinogenic experiences as "trips" and to the acute adverse experiences as "bad trips."

During the Cardinal Crisis of 2010, a round of ‘bad LSD trips” were reported near Eureka, in California’s north coast:

“It started on April 18, 2010, when officers responded to a residence to help Arcata-Mad River ambulance personnel with a 31-year-old man who had just castrated himself.

Medics and officers couldn't find the man's testicles, according to APD. He later told police that he'd flushed them down the toilet because they contained “monsters.”

Then, beginning on May 8, 2010 the incidents picked up. A 21-year old man took LSD and wandered from his home without adequate clothing or shoes and without saying where he was going. The man wandered in the forest for two days while his family and friends looked for him. He returned two days later, according to police.

Although most LSD trips include both pleasant and unpleasant aspects, the drug's effects are unpredictable and may vary with the amount ingested and the user's personality, mood, expectations, and surroundings.

Users of LSD may experience some physiological effects, such as:

Increased blood pressure and heart rate
Dizziness
Loss of appetite
Dry mouth
Sweating
Nausea
Numbness
Tremors

However, the drug's major effects are emotional and sensory. The user's emotions may shift rapidly through a range from fear to euphoria, with transitions so rapid that the user may seem to experience several emotions simultaneously.

The precise mechanism by which LSD alters perceptions is still unclear. Evidence from laboratory studies suggests that LSD, like hallucinogenic plants, acts on certain groups of Serotonin receptors designated as the 5-HT2 Receptors and that its effects are most prominent in two of the brain's main regions:

One is the Cerebral Cortex, an area involved in mood, cognition and perception. The other is the Locus Ceruleus, which receives sensory signals from all areas of the body and has been described as the brain's "novelty detector" for important external stimuli.

Some LSD users experience devastating psychological effects that persist after the trip has ended, producing a long-lasting psychotic-like state.

LSD-induced persistent psychosis may include dramatic mood swings from mania to profound depression, vivid visual disturbances and hallucinations.

These effects may last for years and can affect people who have no history or other symptoms of psychological disorder. LSD users quickly develop a high degree of tolerance for the drug's effects. After repeated use, they need increasingly larger doses to produce similar effects.

LSD use also produces tolerance for other hallucinogenic drugs such as Psilocybin and Mescaline, but not to drugs such as marijuana, amphetamines and PCP which do not act directly on the serotonin receptors affected by LSD.

Tolerance for LSD is short-lived if the user stops taking the drug for several days. There is no evidence yet that LSD produces physical withdrawal symptoms when chronic use is stopped.

Two known long-term effects are Persistent Psychosis and what is termed Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD) - more commonly known as "flashbacks" - associated with use of LSD.

The causes of these effects - which some users report after a single episode with the drug - are not known.

Some former LSD users report flashbacks that are called HPPD by physicians. The episodes are spontaneous, repeated, with sometimes continuous recurrences of some of the sensory distortions originally produced by LSD.

These experience include hallucinations, but most commonly consist of visual disturbances such as seeing false motions on the edges of the field of vision; bright or colored flashes, halos or trails attached to moving objects.

The conditions are typically persistent and in some cases remains unchanged for years after individuals have stopped using LSD.

Because HPPD symptoms may be mistaken for other neurological disorders such as stroke or brain tumors; sufferers may consult a variety of clinicians before the disorder is accurately diagnosed.

There are no established treatments for HPPD, although some anti-depressant drugs may help reduce some of the symptoms.

Psychotherapy also may help patients adjust to the confusion associated with the visual distortions and minimize the fears, expressed by some, that they are suffering brain damage and/or psychiatric disorders.

The widespread misuse of LSD by millions of boomers since the 1960s says much about the psychological and societal dysfunction that has led the baby boomer generation into further widespread abuse of drugs; so much so that we can expect millions of senior citizens to be suffering - not only from present and near-future abuse of drugs - but from excessive past use.

All this reminds me of a documentary (see below) I saw aired in the 1970s about mind-control that shocked a budding astrologer who wondered why the baby boomer generation born before him were acting out so badly.

If there was any case for a generational class-action lawsuit against the agencies that perpetuated the evil mass mind-control crimes on the baby boomer generation, then this is it.

What you are about to see and hear is something that will shock and yes, even anger you - especially if you are a baby boomer who had the misfortune of "turning on, tuning in and dropping out."
